The Discovery Center at the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, invites visitors of all ages to experience the National Archives in new hands-on, interactive ways.
Visitors will have a chance to step into history, from recreating dance moves using films within the National Archives catalog, to arcade games tVisitors can learn how government works in the National Archives Arcade, dance along with historical films, and test their civic superpower skills. The Discovery Center activities are designed for preschool - 6th grade, but all ages are invited to play!
These educational activities and games, from Democracy Disco and Clause of Power to Speak Out! and Picturing America showcase the vast holdings within the National Archives and how the impact the every day lives of all Americans.
There is no additional fee to operate these games. Visitors will scan the barcode on their ticket to engage with each activity, which will track your progress and the numbers of points you earn.
In addition to serving as a new permanent exhibit within the National Archives Museum, the National Archives education staff is proud to facilitate on-site education programs for K–12 classes, and teachers professional development sessions. Requests for reservations for both programs should be made by emailing fieldtrips@nara.gov.
